About Swansea City FC
Swansea is currently managed by former player Roberto Martinez. The Spaniard is a passionate advocate of passing football rather than the typical route one serving that is often associated with home grown managers. It is alleged that in May 2006 Martinez was unceremoniously released as a player from the club he adored because his continental style of passing football conflicted with the preference of former manager Kenny Jacket who enjoyed nothing more that for his players to hoof the ball straight to a target man.
During the 2007 – 2008 Season The Swans romped home with the League one title, beating their nearest rivals Nottingham Forest by 10 points. Thanks to Roberto Martinez fluid Spanish style of football, that proved you can pass your way out of League one.

Swansea City FC History
The Swans were formed in 1912 and their most successful period was the early eighties when the then player manager John Toshack led the Swans from the old Fourth Division to the First Division in successive seasons. Unfortunately, their time at the top lasted just two seasons and the club descended through the divisions during the preceding years and incurred considerable debt.
In 2005, the Swans finally said goodbye to their former ground the Vetch Field and moved to the council owned Liberty Stadium, a 20,500 all-seater, which they share with the Ospreys Rugby Union Club.
Swansea has never won the FA Cup although they did reach the semi finals in 1926 and 1964. Swansea has won the Football League Trophy in 1994 and 2006.

Swansea Players to Watch
Jason Scotland 9 (striker)
The Trinidad & Tobago international arrived at Swansea at the start of the 2007-08 season from former club St Johnstone. At his first season with Swansea, Scotland found the net on 29 occasions and took the Golden Boot award as League Ones top Scorer.
Ferrie Bodde 6 (midfielder)
The fiery Dutchman arrived at Swansea at the start of the 2007-08 season from former Dutch side Den Haag. He’s renowned for his play making ability and clinical passing, which fits in nicely with Martinez’s preferred style of play. Ferrie signed an extend contract with Swansea City after turning down a £2million move to Derby during the summer.
Gorka Pintado 18 (striker)
The Spanish sensation or El Toro arrived at the Liberty at the start of the 2008-09 season. Signing from Spanish side Granada for a reported fee in the region of €200,000 he is set to become one of the Championships brightest stars with his skill, strength and flair that earned him legend status at Granada.
Dorus de Vries 21 (goalkeeper)
The Dutchman arrived at Swansea at the start of the 2007-08 season from former Scottish side Dunfermline. His commanding presence and sharp reflexes have seen him make some impressive critical saves. He also has the loudest voice on the pitch and sounds like a seal being clubbed to death.

Liberty Stadium
Swansea’s Liberty Stadium is about two miles to the north of the city centre. The Liberty has a capacity of 20,500 with a large concourse, generous leg-room and great views from all the stands.
As the Liberty Stadium is home to both professional football and rugby, the pitch is made up of different layers with approximately 20 million artificial grass fibres sewn into the pitch to increase its durability. There is also a state of the art drainage system and under-soil heating so it’s very unlikely that a match would be postponed due to bad weather.
The North Stand has been designated as the away section and the maximum allocation of tickets for a visiting team is up to 3500. The away section is segregated from the adjacent stands by large netting placed over the seating. A large contingent of stadium stewards and police also attend the away section.
There are dedicated food and drink kiosks available to every section of the ground. Food on offer includes: Pies, pasties, cheeseburgers, hotdogs, fries, crisps, and confectionary. Drinks on offer include: Larger (Carling), bitter (Worthingtons), wine, spirits, soft drinks, tea and coffee.
There are two large electronic scoreboards at the Liberty Stadium. One is situated on the top of the South Stand and the other on the top of the North Stand. The North Stand scoreboard is the largest and features a colour display with pictures of the players and other information. The North Stand scoreboard cannot be seen by the visiting supporters.

Directions to the Liberty Stadium
By Train
Swansea High Street Station is on the main line route from London Paddington and is situated 1.4 miles from the Liberty Stadium. You will agonisingly pass the Liberty Stadium on the left as you approach Swansea by train.
Local bus services (routes 4, 4a, 120, 122, 125) and taxis are available from the train station to the Liberty Stadium.
By Road
A dedicated Park and Ride is in operation for supporters travelling by car. Take Junction 45 off the M4. Take the first exit off the roundabout onto the A4067, then take the first exit and follow the signs to the park & ride facility.
The cost of parking there is £5 per car, which includes the short bus journey to and from the Liberty Stadium. Away supporters have their own separate buses to the ground, with the buses waiting outside the away stand at the end of the game to take you back to the car park.
Note: Typically, for non-league based games such as cup and friendly based fixtures the park & ride facility is NOT in operation. We recommend that you contact the club's ticket office for confirmation.
Don’t be tempted to park near the stadium or the nearby residential areas and retail park as you are likely to receive a parking ticket.
