Brown: "Full credit to Swansea, they played some magnificent football"
HULL manager Phil Brown has magnanimously lavished praise on Swans boss Roberto Martinez following the Premiership side's 2-1 defeat in the second round of the Carling Cup.

The Tigers manager says Swansea "played some magnificent football" and even suggests that the club, setup and stadium are "built for the next level".

Swansea Put Wind Up Dean's Ass
SWANSEA City don't normally enjoy much success when it comes to the Carling Cup and the the early goal from Hull's Dean Windass suggested that last night wasn't going to be much different.

But Swansea's Gorka Pintado had different ideas and the feisty front-man helped the Super Swans achieve their first passage into round three of the cup for the first time in 26 years.

Ricketts Compares Swansea to Hull
HULL defender Sam Ricketts is looking forward to the Carling Cup clash against his former club this evening and says Swansea are following the same successful pattern set by Hull.

Rickett's believes the Super Swans are emulating the same route to the Premiership as his current club Hull City and are playing with a similar level of style as the Premiership new boys.

Hull Evokes Memories for Martinez
SWANSEA City host Premiership new boys Hull City on Tuesday evening in the second round Carling Cup clash at the Liberty Stadium in a game that is sure to invoke memories for Martinez.

When Swansea played Hull back in 2003 they did so to secure their league status and Martinez captained the side on that fateful day which saw the Swans win 4-2, partly thanks to THAT hat trick from James Thomas.

Leon Knight Joins Non-League Rushden & Diamonds
FORMER Swansea City striker Leon Knight has joined conference side Rushden & Diamonds following his release from League Two side Wycombe Wanderers last week.

This latest move is Knight's tenth club in nine years, in a career which began as a trainee at Chelsea only to disintegrate down the leagues, eventually culminating in a non-league side.

Martinez Plays Down Play-Off Plan
LAST week, Swansea City defender Marcos Painter suggested that Martinez and the squad are privately planning on reaching a Championship play-off position at the end of the season.

FIFA Recommend Omitting Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland from Olympic Team
BRITISH Prime Minister Gorden Brown has added his backing to the idea of having a British football team comprising of all the home nations competing in the 2012 Olympics to be held in London.

But the Welsh, Scottish and Northern Ireland football bodies have previously opposed any such proposal through fear it will affect their status within governing body Fifa.

Sturrock: "I can only apologise to the fans"
PLYMOUTH Argyle manager Paul Sturrock looked like a broken man when asked for his views following his team's 1-0 defeat to Championship newcomers Swansea City on Saturday.

The anguish on Sturrock's face could be plainly seen as he struggled to retain his disappointment after witnessing a lack lustre performance by the Pilgrims.

Martinez: "I would have loved to have scored more goals"
Swansea manager Roberto Martinez is thrilled with the performance of his side during the 1-0 victory over Championship strugglers Plymouth Argyle away at Home Park.

The Spaniard confesses that he would have liked to have seen more goals in return for the effort given by his squad, but he is delighted nevertheless, particular with Jason Scotland's strike.
